This villa is a restored 11th Century building located in the most beautiful part of Tuscany; South of Siena. The history of this captivating stone edifice dates back almost 1000 years. It began as a religious building, then became a rest stop, or posting station, as it was part of the medieval pilgrimage route “Via Francigena.” To this day, the route passes through the property.

DESCRIPTION OF INTERIORS
The interiors of the villa, which total 700 square meters, have been renovated with great taste. The décor combines Italian antiques a with modern comforts, including American- made beds, ceiling fans in all rooms and screens on the windows. The bathrooms have each been renovated with marble, travertine, and wood details. One can enjoy a hot bath with a view of the countryside.
The ground floor consists of the original entrance way with a medieval stone floor, a huge living room, used as a living/dining/entertainment area with high vaulted columns, a large fireplace and six spectacular French doors that open onto the terraces overlooking the garden. The traditional, and very large, kitchen is joined with a double bed and private bath.
Upstairs, accessed by travertine marble staircase or a spiral iron staircase, we find a large living room with imposing medieval fireplace, living and dining area, a fully equipped
kitchen, a library, a master suite with separate seating area, canopy bed and bathroom with tub and shower. The floor is completed with four comfortable bedrooms
-a bedroom with queen-size bed and private bathroom, tub and shower

GROUNDS AND SURROUNDINGS
The property is located on a quiet hill with about 12 hectares of land that includes a garden, olive groves and vineyards overlooking Montalcino, home of the famous Brunello wine. There is also a lovely chapel making this an ideal property for small family weddings. We also find a wood-burning oven and wonderful 30 x 40 meter green marble pool, surrounded by rose gardens and wisteria pergola designed by Peter Curzon.
